Dead Beautiful is another book with a mysterious boarding school and an orphan (I seem to be reading a lot of these lately). It is a very different take on the undead and I enjoyed the philosophy behind it. At the very least, the book gives YA readers an insight into subjects they probably don't cover in high school. The romance was well done, and I enjoyed it, up until the moment it took on a Romeo/Juliet theme. SPOILER ALERT I have a problem with 16 year olds pledging to give their life for their "soulmate". I'm not talking about being turned into a vampire "give their life," I'm talking about actually cutting their lives short. It was sort of saved in the end, but it still left me more than a little uncomfortable.
